About

Bostonian by birth, Irish, Italian and Lebanese by heritage, Nora Elizabeth Sofia Gilligan sees fashion, style, the arts and culture as creative lens’ through which to view the world.

Since graduating from Georgetown University with studies in both international health and studio art, Nora has been balancing her passion for policy and social issues with her inclinations toward writing and visual art.  After finishing her Master of Public Administration in workforce and economic development, she worked as copy and web editor forPapercut Magazine, to which she is still a contributing writer.  Nora currently resides in Washington, D.C., where she works as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Family Assistance, the policy and administrative branch of the nation’s welfare system.

Nora looks forward to joining the journey of Mode a la Nix; in the (slightly dramatic) words of Alexander McQueen, “I am going to take you on journeys you’ve never dreamed were possible.”  As Assistant Fashion Editor, favorite designers include Joy Cioci and Alber Elbaz, the latter as much for his outlook on life as for his aesthetic: “Because the moment we try to do everything for ourselves, we’re becoming very mediocre in what we do, and we don’t go to extremes and we don’t touch excellence.  And I prefer to touch excellence.”
